Positives

Alrighty! I'm posting something else now. It's crazy how life has been. But I'm going to tell you about some of the positive things that have happened!
So at work I was able to have some fun at the Bay Lake Towers. I met some awesome families, like Rodger and his family, as well as John and his family of kids that were my age, and a little boy named Tate.
While I worked at BLT pool I was able to get really close to some of the families there. Roger and I worked Pitchburst, basically a dunk tank but a balloon is popped over your head when someone hits a target, and we had a really fun time. We connected with the guests, specifically Rodger and his family. They kept coming back to the pool and didn't even want to go to the parks while they stayed at BLT. It was really cool seeing them and getting to know them. Their daughter had her 14th birthday there as well! Really cool family, and we got on a first name basis, as you can tell, and they literally made my week better. Then Rodger and his family wrote a very kind note to my manager who then told me I did a good job. Honestly, I was treating Rodger and his family as I would want mine to be treated!
There was also a couple of twin girls that came in and were dressed alike. Brandy Rae and I were talking with them and we were admiring their outfits and how they matched! Then we said, "We should dress alike!" And then we looked down... white shoes, check, blue shorts, check, bright yellow/red/black shirts, CHECK! Blonde moment anyone? I blame the sun exposure!
Then there was a little girl named Jordan. She was ADORABLE and she became very attached to me. I did my best to be her friend and I even came in on my day off to see all my new friends for a game of pitchburst. The line got really long when they realized I had come in and was going to sit in the chair. Jake, my 14 year old friend, was eager to pop the balloon, but it was Reese who actually got me!!! She did well!
At work Lauren and I look VERY much alike. So sometimes people will get us confused and think that she was just at the pool, but it was really me, or that I never had a day off, but Lauren would be there with all my fav families! But Lauren is AMAZING! and Definitely CUTE!
The family that was mostly 20 year old kids, Johns family, they were AWESOME! They would come and play with me in my activities, they would talk with me about random things, we would all dance in Community hall for the kinect and it was just a TON of fun! They also would shout my name from insane distances just to see me dance!
One time they were like, JULES!!!! And I started to dance, and they said, "WE GOT YOU SOME CANDY!" and then I danced some more and they gave it to me. It was awesome! I miss them and wish I got to say bye to them before they left... but alas... it wasn't so. I miss them dearly.
Then just the other day there was Tate. I was leading an activity, the water balloon toss, and there was a boy about 12 years old that came up and took a balloon and ran into the pool. Kind of odd. I asked him not to do that, and prevented him from doing it again. I asked him if he wanted to participate but he said no.
I figured out that he is a special case.
I then finished up my activity a little early, Holden and Hope's family were the grand winners!!! (GREAT family!) And I saw this boy scratching off letters from the lifeguard stand. I went up to him and I asked him, "Would you like to help me with something?!" he was shy at first, but came up to me and said "Yes!" I had him Hula Hoop for a few minutes, and I threw it for him a couple times and he did even better. Then I made the announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen! Up here we have Tate! He's an AMAZING hula hooper and he's just won a rubber ducky!" So I gave it to him and he got to play with it. He disappeared afterwards... I don't know where he went, but I'm glad I got to see him and reward him for doing something fun.
Afterwards a dad came up to me and thanked me.... I don't know why but I feel like it's what everyone should do. Tate deserved a prize, I knew he didn't want to do things with all the other kids, so I picked him out when I could, and got him to smile. It's not just my job, it's who I am. I want to make people happy, I want them to smile. And when they do, they get to pass on the happiness. I'm grateful for my job. I absolutely love it. It's long hours in the sun, but I know if I put my all into it then it's worth it... it always is.
Well, that's it so far. The positive things in life.
Remember, count your blessings, and as President Bell says, "When you count your blessings, there's usually a face that goes with it." And it's true.... every one of those faces... every one of those families, those kids, I'm grateful for.

  1. Jules, just read your post which brought tears of joy to my eyes. Just think that your name will be known across the nation as families return home from their vacations at Disney World and tell friends and families of their fun and what htey remember most. Kinda reminds me of the topic on the Mormon.org utube site, what really matters most. way to go Jules, brightening many families lives. LYM Ojison, AKA Dad
